Welcome to Marlo Franson Biography It was a series of steps, that lead me back to acting and comedy, a good friend of mine passed away who was to help out my business and I felt my business was destined to be the same and to this date it is, a passable money maker. So after being told of a open mic night on Tuesdays nights I felt I was ready to check it out, as I was gonna start the previous Sept but due to a business downturn, mainly losing my merchant processor(again). I was not in the mood till the following year and that began my comeback into the industry. I craved for a once a week on stage time to tell my jokes and even looked and performed at open mic nights throughout the city. It began clear that I would have to start my own comedy night to get even more experience and after struggling for a year with venues I found the Press Box ready and willing to have an anything goes comedy show and to this date, I am still hosting that show weekly. Now in my 4th year of being a stand up comedy, I have begun acting as well in short films. I don't wanna tell you how hard it is to be a stand up comic or an actor, or how there is a heirachry, or how the Pros pick their favs to bypass you, or what hell you have to go through to get respect but I can tell you I am not quitting anytime soon. The show I run makes me happy and proud to help others any myself getting better entertaining people. I have helped hundreds of Amatuer comics get practice, and dozens of Pros get paid with my shows. I am currently working on writing new jokes every week which makes me very unique in this field and unlike most other comics. I currently do event news every week to keep me on my toes, and can only be thankful and grateful that stand up comedy in Vancouver is more alive than ever. I began acting at an early age in Highschool starring at The Mayor in Music Man, that was the kicker to keep me taking acting glasses all the way through University. I sung in the choir and played many types of receational sports throughout highschool & University. If Vancouver was not tough I would have been acting in the 90's but after exhaustive effort no agent was taking new talent like me so I gave up. I figured it was only a matter of time once I started doing stand up comedy that I would get back into acting and thanks to a friend we did a film shoot in an agents office whereupon she stated she could use someone like me to do parts. The first year is the toughest so I have been doing the free VFS films and other school projects as an actor to gain experience. It is only a matter of time before a role comes across my plate that will pay me and I can the begin wonderful career in acting like those you see on TV and paying off my taxes. Currently I am Thwackers.tv but we have only filmed 3 show so far for the Web Series and I look forward to 2011 when we start filming even more. I expect more roles in 2010 and you may see me on day on your TV, where I should be. I currently do stand up comedy every week and can be seen on stage for a fun time at one of Maddog Studios comedy shows. |
