Welcome to Marlo Franson - Biography

Hello and welcome to a brief Biography of Marlo Franson, actor, and stand up comic Born in Regina, Saskatchewan, I attended several Public school and High Schools throughtout my childhood life such as Dr. George Ferguson, Balfour Collegiate and Campbell Collegiate. After graduating from Campbell Collegiate in 1989, I moved up to Saskatoon, Saskatchewan where I spent a great 5 years of playing sports, partying and graduating with a Degree in Psychology. In the summer, I spent time on the coasts with the Canadian Navy, as a reservist and found my way to Vancouver, BC in 1994 where I currently reside. I didn't find any work within Psychology so I spent a year in Vancouver then moved up to Whistler BC, where I enjoyed a year of skiing and working hard with all the Tourists. When the summer came and the sun went down at 6pm due to the mountains, I moved back to Vancouver, BC where I spent another year searching for employment. I took on Framing housing and after a off and on season and working in restuarants, it was time to go back to school. In 1999, I attended the University of British Columbia to get acquainted with this new thing called the internet and personal computer. Creating a few information sites and learning how to play online I settled on making a retail site for online shoppers. I took two good years attending UBC working online and acting but in the end I got the online business working, I ended up doing Security for Safeway before then, arresting the most best of Vancouver, who chose not to pay for the cheese or meat in their possession. Luckily for my size, I was larger than most of the riff raff and saw many of them taken away even to find out some of them were BC wanted top 10. This became too much for me and I moved onto selling on ebay till the online retail store took off, then through the years, we experienced many ups and downs with the business that it was not gonna get better so I felt it was time to get back into the entertainment business in 2007 and started Stand Up Comedy.

It was a series of steps, that lead me back to acting and comedy, I started writing comedy, my friend drew me to an open mic just as a good friend of mine passed away who was to help out my business grow, and then I knew it would not get better so why the heck not and start Stand Up Comedy. Open mic night on Tuesdays nights began in February, and felt I was ready to check it out, and get up on stage. I started to crave a once a week stage time to tell my jokes and performed at other open mic nights throughout the city. It began clear that I would have to start my own comedy night to get even more experience and after struggling for a year with venues I found the Press Box Media Lounge ready and willing to have an anything goes type of comedy show and to this date, I am still hosting that show weekly. Now in my 5th year of being a stand up comedy, I have begun acting as well in short films. I have helped hundreds of Amatuer comics get practice, and dozens of Pros get paid with my shows and it is fun everynight I go out and erform. I am currently working on writing new jokes every week which makes me very unique in this field and unlike most other comics. I currently do event news every week to keep me on my toes, and can only be thankful and grateful that stand up comedy in Vancouver is more alive than ever.

I began acting at an early age in Highschool starring at The Mayor in Music Man, that was the kicker to kept me taking acting classes all the way through University. I was destined to be a performer and it was only a matter of time of I can do that till I now started to do it. .The first year is the toughest and the next 3 even harder but I keep going every week, and even started an online Talk Show Called Later Tonight. I have been doing the VFS, Capilino, SFU, Instittute of BC, UBC, and independant films and other projects as an actor to gain experience in the field. It is only a matter of time before a role comes across my plate and you will all see me in what I can do. I can't wait to begin a great career in acting or performing on staage for 1000's around the World . I expect more roles in 2011 and you may see me one day on your TV, where I should be. I currently do stand up comedy every week at the Press Box and the Attic Sports Bar brough to you by Maddog Studios comedy shows.
